Walterboro Wings-n-Wheels
On Saturday, April 12, Walterboro will showcase over one hundred antique aircraft and show cars at the sixth annual Wings n’ Wheels. Pilots and owners will be on hand to talk. There will also be helicopter rides and stunts and aerobatics at this fun filled event geared toward the whole family. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Walterboro Lowcountry Regional Airport, located at 537 Aviation Way, Walterboro, S.C. 29488. Guided Walking Tour by Dr. Eran Kilpatrick at the Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary
Dr. Eran Kilpatrick, a professor of biology at USC Salkehatchie, will lead a walking tour through the Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, April 19. This is a free event starting at 9 a.m. near the Duck Pond at the De Treville Street entrance, 399 De Treville Street. Colleton County Rice Festival and 5K Rice Run
Held in downtown Walterboro, the annual Colleton County Rice Festival and 5K Rice Run promises fun for the entire family, featuring arts and crafts, food, fireworks, music, and a dog show. In honor of the festival, the annual Rice Festival Parade will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m., while the annual 5K run and walk will begin earlier that morning at 8 a.m. at the old post office on Washington Street. Downtown Walterboro Criterium International Bicycle Race and Block Party
Come late April, the City of Walterboro will host the 12th annual Downtown Walterboro Criterium, an international bicycling competition as part of the USA Crits Speed Week. Visitors are invited to this free event to watch some of the best cyclists in the world race through the streets of downtown Walterboro. The race will take place on Wednesday, April 30, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will also be a children’s race. 8th Annual Walterboro Antiques, History & Arts Festival
May brings the 8th annual Walterboro Antiques, History & Arts Festival, which will be held Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17. The festival will kick off Friday night at 6 p.m. with “The Rockin Pig,” a full barbeque dinner and auction. Seventy-four rocking chairs, decorated by local businesses, organizations, and schools, will be on display for both a live and silent auction. The dinner, which features barbeque, beer, and wine, is $15 per person. On Saturday, antique vendors will be on site at Washington Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Colleton County Museum and Farmers Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. An antique tractor parade will be held on Washington Street at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. There will also be a juried art show and sale running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the same day on the grounds of the South Carolina Artisans Center, located at 318 Wichman Street.
