CRBJ BizWire: Frampton Construction tapped to build The Rose Pavilion at Hampton Park
Charleston, S.C. — Frampton Construction Company, LLC, a regional full-service construction firm providing planning and design support, preconstruction, construction services, and sustainability services throughout the Carolinas, has been selected by the Charleston Parks Conservancy to make renovations to the former concession stand and its surrounding landscape at Hampton Park to form the new Rose Pavilion. The revitalization of the pavilion is part of the Conservancy’s overall plan to invigorate and improve the experience at Hampton Park.
“We’re excited to share the plans for the new Rose Pavilion with the community and demonstrate how we’ll be turning this underused part of Hampton Park into a more vibrant, beautiful space that will become a hub of community activity,” said Harry Lesesne, executive director of the Charleston Parks Conservancy. “These improvements will allow more residents to use and enjoy one of the city’s most beloved parks.”
The project primarily consists of renovating the existing concession stand and providing new hardscape to the adjacent area. Once complete, the concession stand will feature barn style sliding doors and a coated roof system.
Improvements to the surrounding hardscape will include the addition of a brick seat wall around the pavilion, a wrought iron rose trellis and arbor at the pavilion entrance, and brick and pavers interspersed with planting areas and benches. According to the Conservancy, once the renovation is complete, the pavilion will serve as a place to host family and social gatherings, culinary pop-ups, and neighborhood and cultural events. Construction is set to begin in late October and is expected to take approximately 11 weeks.
Keaton Green, director at Frampton Construction, commented, “Frampton Construction is proud to partner with the Charleston Parks Conservancy to further develop the Hampton Park landscape. We’re confident that improvements to the existing facility will enhance the aesthetic appeal of the park and create a lively and inviting atmosphere to celebrate the beauty of Charleston.”
Wertimer + Cline Landscape Architects designed the landscape and hardscape for the project, and David Thompson Architect completed the design for the concession stand renovation.
