American Journal of Transportation: Frampton Construction to handle expansion for Old Dominion Freight Line service centers
Charleston, S.C.—Frampton Construction, LLC, a regional full-service construction firm providing planning and design support, preconstruction, and construction services, has been selected by Old Dominion Freight Line to expand their Chesapeake, Va. and Richmond, Va. service centers.
Improvements to the Chesapeake service center will include a 20-door dock expansion, installation of a new fire sprinkler system, and retrofitting the facility with new LED lighting.Construction is expected to be complete in April 2019 and will increase the capacity of the service center to a total of 65 doors.
“As earnings this year have demonstrated, demand for Old Dominion’s premium service remains high and we must continue to build capacity to fulfill our customer’s needs,” said Terry Hutchins, vice president of field services and real estate for Old Dominion. “In times of expansion, it’s critical to have a partner like Frampton Construction to ensure our projects are completed on-time and are of the highest quality.”
The Richmond location will also see a 20-door dock expansion and new fire sprinkler system, in addition to 4.34 acres of expanded trailer parking. Construction on the facility, expected to be complete in June 2019, will result in a facility with a 73-door capacity.

David Mollenkopf Architect completed the design for the expansions, and Timmons Group is the civil engineer on both projects.
