Elizabeth Boineau of E. Boineau & Company Awarded 2010 Silver Medal
Charleston , S.C. – Elizabeth Boineau, principal of E. Boineau & Company, a marketing communications and public relations firm based here and Edisto Island, was honored as the American Ad Federation’s (AAF) Silver Medal Award winner at the Charleston Ad Federation’s (CAF) ADDY Awards event February 6 th at Memminger Auditorium.
The award, locally known as the Tom Alexander Silver Medal, and named for the late advertising pro who for years ran the former Advertising Service Agency (ASA), was established by AAF in 1959. Each year the organization recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of advertising; has been active in furthering the industry’s standards; demonstrated creative excellence; and shown responsibility in areas of social concern.
According to the nomination, submitted by fellow team members Allison Leggett and Melissa Pluta Parker, as well as affiliated graphic designer Tiffany Jonas, “Elizabeth has achieved a formidable reputation and notable success in the marketing communications, public relations and advertising field and has had a distinguished 30+year career building brands.”
The nomination goes on to recall some of her work on slogans and programs for clients such as: Bessinger’s Barbeque (“raising the bar in barbeque” as well as garnering a recent feature in People Magazine’s “Country Life” edition as barbeque of the month); helping develop the theme for “Doin’ the Dunes” for Dunes Properties’ dunes re-nourishment; or helping to sell out lots at Sewee Preserve, north of Mt. Pleasant, a conservation development that was owned by Dennis Avery of The Avery Co., Inc. Another example is the very recent slogan and logo for Edisto Chamber of Commerce’s year-round tourism campaign: “Edisto, a coastal island destination…a state of mind, anytime, any season.”
Her team further notes, “whether redefining a company, strategizing over media angles and opportunities, overseeing the design of logos and Web sites, or naming a company and launching from scratch (as recently completed for Renaissance South Construction Company), she has stood confidently in front of a host of formidable clients, and in each and every case, has graciously directed meetings, guided discussions, educated, informed and persuaded…even in stressful situations without seeming to blink an eye.” They go on to add, “quick on her feet and slow to judge, she increases the stature of the profession on a consistent and daily basis, demonstrates her wisdom and her grace, and makes us proud to call her our fearless leader for many years now. We feel she is a highly worthy honoree, and knowing the attributes this award seeks to recognize, we feel that she is not only befitting of this honor, but would also bring honor to it.”
Elizabeth is originally from Columbia, S.C., and moved here after college in Virginia in 1977 to pursue a career, initially in marketing for the then C&S Bank of S.C., and later as director of communications for Charleston County Schools. She opened E. Boineau & Company in 1990 and then left in 1996 to work around the country in senior management posts for the three largest global communications firms in the world. She returned here in 2002 and restarted the firm.
