As tennis stars face off this week in the Charleston Open, one athlete’s name who isn’t among the competitors appeared on all the schedules.
“Althea Gibson Court,” named for the late trailblazer with South Carolina roots, is one of the stages on which matches in the largest women’s-only tennis tournament in North America are playing out this week at the Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island.
