ABC 4 News: Charleston’s historic Emancipation Day Parade kicks off at Burke High School
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Charleston’s Emancipation Day Parade, recognized as the nation’s longest continuously running Emancipation Day parade, starts Monday at 11:00 a.m.
Running until 3:00 p.m., the parade will start at Burke High School and end at Gadsdenboro Park in front of the International African American Museum.
The International African American Museum is participating in this year’s parade with a float, and the museum’s President and CEO, Dr. Tonya Matthews, will be one of the speakers.
In addition to the parade, the event will be hosting food trucks, entertainment, and more. No registration is required.
