E. Boineau & Company Adds Edisto Chamber of Commerce to Client Roster
Sep 03, 2009
Charleston, S.C. — The Edisto Chamber of Commerce, representing businesses and organizations in the Edisto Beach and Edisto Island area of the Lowcountry, has named E. Boineau & Company as marketing and public relations agency of record. The engagement involves a formal marketing/branding effort to attract off-season travelers to this popular summer retreat about 50 minutes south of Charleston, S.C., and approximately 70 minutes north of Beaufort, S.C.
Edisto Island’s historical legacy began with the imprint of the Edistow Indians – its first known occupants – followed by the Spanish in the 1500’s and English settlers in the 1600’s. By the late 1700’s, planters on the island were focused on Sea Island cotton, one of the finest cottons ever produced and a crop that brought great wealth to the Island. The elegant houses and plantations remaining today are reminders of that affluent age, with several listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Today, Edisto is a quiet island getaway, nestled among centuries-old live oaks and mile-long marsh views, with modest commercialization and controlled development. Taking lessons from other areas along the Coastal South, Edisto Islanders have placed an emphasis on preserving the area as a pristine and environmentally rich year-round destination.
