Charleston Regional Business Journal: Construction in early phases for Orangeburg packaging plant
A construction project that will bring a 100,000-square-foot flexible packaging facility to Orangeburg is underway, led by Frampton Construction Co. LLC. Brookwood Capital Partners is developer for the Indevco Plastics industrial project.
Construction on the design-build project began in February and is currently in the sitework phase, according to a news release. The pre-engineered metal building will house manufacturing, storage, office and lab space for the flexible packaging company.
“We’re looking forward to establishing a presence in the Southeast, and Frampton Construction has been a reliable partner in that venture,” Robert Laird, president of Indevco, said in the news release. “We’re set for an on-time opening and excited to make our entry into Orangeburg and the larger S.C. community.”
The facility includes a 20,000-square-foot penthouse area with 63-foot-high ceilings designed to accommodate large manufacturing machinery. The remaining 80,000-square-foot area has a 30-foot clear height, the release said. Rail access enables efficient transport of plastic resin to the facility, which is then manufactured into flexible packaging and distributed throughout North America for a range of industries.

Frampton Construction is a full-service construction firm that provides planning and design support, preconstruction and construction services.
Carlisle Associates completed the building design and Hoyt + Berenyi provided civil engineering services.
Indevco Plastics produces a range of recyclable plastic film and bags for manufacturers and converters, including form-fill-seal film, centerfold sheeting, heavy-duty open mouth bags, stretch hood film, shrink bundling film, and sealant film, according to the release. The company serves the beverage, building material, chemical and petrochemical, industrial salt, mineral, lawn and garden, material handling, and packaging converting markets.
