LMASE Charleston City Group Hosts Legal Marketing CLE, Elizabeth Boineau named to committee

Charleston, SC – The Legal Marketing Association Southeastern Chapter has formed a City Group in Charleston. Committee members include: Chair Laurie Benjamin, Marketing Director for A. William Roberts, Jr. and Associates; Jennifer Heisler of Silver Crescent Consulting representing Rosen, Rosen & Hagood; Elizabeth Boineau of E. Boineau & Company representing Robertson Wendt, et al; Sarah Murray Marketing Manager for Womble Carlyle; and Ashley Pace Client Intelligence Manager for Nexsen Pruet.
The Charleston City Group will host a luncheon at Hall Chophouse at 434 King Street at noon on October 25th, 2011. The event will feature a presentation by Barbara Seymour, Deputy Disciplinary Counsel to the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Seymour will speak on “Recent Developments in the Ethics of Law Firm Marketing”. Any attorney attending will be eligible to receive one CLE credit in ethics through the South Carolina Bar.
The program will include a review of the ethical requirements and restrictions on lawyer advertising and solicitation, with a special emphasis on recent case law and revisions to the South Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct. Participants learn how to avoid the ethical pitfalls of law office marketing, focusing particularly on issues related to new media, including websites, online directories, Internet ads, and social and professional networking sites.
Seymour earned her Bachelor’s degree in Management and Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1990. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University Of Georgia School Of Law in 1993 and worked as a trial lawyer from 1993 to 2000. She is the creator and coordinator of the Legal Ethics and Practice Program (LEAPP), which includes ethics, advertising, and trust account schools, sponsored by the Supreme Court and the South Carolina Bar.
