Keaton Green named Runner-Up for LLS Lowcountry MWOY Campaign
Green and his team raise $237,274.00 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Charleston, S.C. – Keaton Green, vice president of Frampton Construction Company, LLC, a full-service construction firm providing planning and design support, preconstruction, and construction services, was named runner-up in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2020 Lowcountry Man and Woman of the Year competition on Saturday night.
The LLS Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign, which began on February 27, is a philanthropic competition for leaders in local communities across the U.S. The title “Man or Woman of the Year” is awarded to the candidate whose team raises the most funds for LLS in honor of local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year.
Green is one of nine candidates who participated this year. During the 15-week campaign, extended from the original 10-week campaign due to COVID-19, Green and his team raised a total of $237,274.00 for LLS. He was honored for his fundraising efforts during the Grand Finale Gala, which was held virtually on June 13. Collectively, this year’s Lowcountry MWOY candidates raised $875,906.57.
Green commented, “Each day it becomes more evident that cancer lives within our families and our society, and it seems we all know someone affected by cancer. Now that I’m a father, it’s even more heartbreaking to hear stories of children battling cancer. I’m proud to be part of a society that provides financial support and advocacy to families in need. I have grown passionate about the cause, but I did not do this alone. I had a strong team of individuals behind me who also believed in the mission.”
Green continued, “Although I am honored to accept the award of runner-up for ‘Man of the Year,’ this award should be presented to the men, women, and children who battle cancer each day. There is a silver lining to taking second place, and it’s that we’re hungry for more and will continue our reach. These families deserve it, and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
Green’s experience campaigning for LLS MWOY winners Bobby Green (2016) and Chad Frampton (2017) sparked his passion for fundraising for LLS. His choice to take it a step further and lead his own campaign was inspired by the children who fight blood cancer every day, in addition to his mother, who is in remission from breast cancer. When his friend and neighbor Mike Nicholson was diagnosed with a blood cancer in 2019, Green became even further committed to the cause. All funds raised during the campaign will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find cures and ensure patients access to the treatments they need.
