Charleston City Paper: International African American Museum hosts virtual chat May 18
On May 18, the International African American Museum sponsors a virtual Fireside Chat with Clint Smith, author of How the Word is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America.
The book is a New York Times Bestseller and the winner of the 2021 National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. Dr. Bernard Powers, founding director of College of Charleston’s Center for the Study of Slavery, will moderate the chat as Smith talks about his experience traveling to various historic sites.
