WHY: The IAAM exists to preserve and explore the gifts, dreams, and hopes from African American ancestors, transforming visitors into keepers of the collective stories and advocates of the museum’s mission and vision. In many ways, the values championed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., are present within the content and stories shared through exhibitions – social and racial justice, freedom, economic equality, and perhaps most importantly, sharing a dream for a brighter future. IAAM Bold. IAAM Powerful. IAAM Courageous. IAAM My Ancestor’s Wildest Dream. IAAM King is the theme of the celebration.
