Post and Courier: Holiday fanfare will be in the streets and on the water this weekend
No need to fret … the holiday parades and tree lightings aren’t over just yet.
The Charleston City Market will host its inaugural Lighting of the Tree on Friday at 7:30 p.m. during its Night Market in Anson Square. In addition to the Night Market, which features local handcrafted products for sale, there will be carols from the Chucktown Trippintones and other holiday music from “Sweet T” Parrish and John Sherril. There also will be a collection of unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots and Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance.
Folly Beach will host its Christmas parade at 1 p.m. Saturday , traveling down West Ashley Avenue and Center Street. Following the parade, holiday shopping opportunities will be available at the Arts & Crafts Show at Folly River Park, featuring handcrafted items from local artisans.
The 26th annual Edisto Beach Parade, sponsored by the Edisto Chamber of Commerce, will make its way down Palmetto Boulevard to the Pavilion near Edisto Beach State Park, beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday . This year’s theme is “The Coast is Clear for an Edisto Christmas,” a clever jab at the aftereffects of Hurricane Matthew. Santa Claus will arrive in time for the parade and also will make a special appearance at McConkey’s Jungle Shack from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
