Times and Democrat: Edisto Island to usher in holidays with concert, and tree lighting
EDISTO ISLAND — The Edisto Island and Edisto Beach communities will be decorated from stem to stern for another festive holiday season.
The Edisto Community Chorus will offer a robust start to the season with an evening of beautiful carols. Sure to get everyone in the holiday mood, the Christmas Concert is set for 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, and is sponsored by the Edisto Ministerial Alliance. The performance will be held at Edisto Beach Baptist Church, 414 Jungle Road.
The following week brings the 23rd annual Edisto Christmas Parade: “Edisto Holiday Cheer.” Sponsored by the Edisto Chamber of Commerce, the parade will get under way at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. The procession will start at the 600 block of Palmetto Boulevard along Edisto Beach and end at the Pavilion near Edisto Beach State Park. The lighting of the Town Christmas Tree will be held at 1:30 p.m., prior to the start of the parade. A number of afternoon and evening events hosted by local businesses, including oyster roasts, shrimp boils, barbecues and live music, will follow.
