WCBD-TV: Walterboro police working to curb counterfeit cash
By Larry Collins
Walterboro police and the Secret Service are working to get counterfeit cash off the streets.
The two most recent cases, in Walterboro, were at a Bi-Lo grocery store and at a Walterboro Dollar General discount store. In both cases someone tried to use fake $20 bills to pay for items.
Sometimes the person using the bill is an innocent consumer. The woman at Dollar General claimed that she received the bill with her change at the local Wal-mart. The man at Bi-Lo claimed to get the bill from a local check cashing place when he cashed his check.
Making counterfeit cash is a federal crime.
