CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A tour bus offloads passengers at the doorstep of Charleston’s International African American Museum.
Their excited chatter is a precursor of expectations during their visit in this surprisingly low humidity mid-morning during summer. They file by two-by-two, some stop to read a marker stationed near the city sidewalk and property line of the museum.
The almost eight-foot black marker with white writing briefly tells the story of the sacred ground that this elevated building sits on. Round concrete pillars support the behemoth facility.
