Bessinger’s Barbeque to donate portion of sales to Mother Emanuel Hope Fund
Charleston, S.C. – Following the tragic loss Wednesday of nine devoted and beloved members of the Charleston community, Bessinger’s Barbeque, a popular third generation Charleston-based restaurant serving Southern-style barbeque, will donate a portion of this weekend’s sales to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund. The fund was established by the city of Charleston to help families of the nine victims who were killed when a gunman opened fire at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
From 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 26, until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, Bessinger’s Barbeque, located at 1602 Savannah Highway, will donate up to 20% of profits from sales at the sandwich shop, the buffet and from all catering sales during that time to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.
As of Monday, June 22, the Emanuel Hope Fund has raised $377,425. Donations can be made by check through the City of Charleston, at any Wells Fargo Bank nationwide or by texting “prayforcharleston” to 843-606-5995.
Having recently celebrated its 75th year, Bessinger’s Barbeque continues its tradition of serving Southern-style barbeque, sandwiches and sides made with the highest quality ingredients at their original Charleston establishment on Savannah Highway.
