Walterboro Public Safety Makes Arrest in Arson Case
Walterboro, S.C. – Walterboro Public Safety investigators have made an arrest in response to an arson incident that occurred last week.
On August 26, 2011, Walterboro Public Safety officers responded to American General at 305 Robertson Boulevard at approximately 7:41 p.m. for a structure fire with smoke showing. Once on- site, personnel were able to extinguish several small fires throughout the building. Investigators determined that there were seven small fires: three on the top of desks, one on top of a filing cabinet, one underneath a desk, two in mail slots, and one on a bulletin board. All fires appeared to be started with paper. Walterboro Public Safety investigators processed the scene and a SLED arson investigator determined the cause to be arson.
On August 29, 2011, Walterboro Public Safety investigators charged Amy N. Head with arson. She was arrested and is currently being held at the Colleton County Jail. Head, who is 25 years of age, is from Dorchester County. Additional information about the offender, including a booking photo, may be obtained from the Colleton County Sheriff’s office.
