Walterboro Public Safety Makes Arrests in Shooting Incident
Walterboro, S.C. – In an incident yesterday evening at 189 Beach Road in Druid Hills, shots were fired, which resulted in an injury, leading the victim’s father to call Public Safety as a neighbor was transporting his son to Colleton County Medical Center. According to reports, the victim heard gunshots, began running and realized he had been hit. He chose not to make a voluntary statement to police, indicating that he had not seen the origin of the shots. Subsequently, neighbors nearby gave a detailed description of the vehicle, which officers searched and found at Hendersonville Highway and Bomar Lane. A traffic stop was set up in that area, which led to the arrests of the following individuals on these charges:
Tyson D Bomar, 32 years old of Walterboro
Charges: attempted murder, assault and battery first degree, possession of
firearm in commission of violent crime and unlawful carrying of a pistol
Johnny J Wiggins, 20 years old of Walterboro
Charges: attempted murder, assault and battery first degree, possession of
firearm in commission of violent crime and unlawful carrying of a pistol
Felicia R Smalls, 24 years old of Walterboro

“The arrests made by the City of Walterboro’s Public Safety Officers were the direct result of our collaborative effort to stop crime in its tracks. With the help of citizens such as those who gave a detailed account of what, when and who they saw, we were able to make a swift arrest of three individuals on a myriad of charges. This town is just saying no to criminals, and we remain vigilant in our efforts to be sure they know there is no place for these unlawful acts in our town,” said Bill Young, Mayor of the City of Walterboro.
This is still an ongoing investigation and further details are not being released at this time. Booking photos are available through the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office
