Plans shopping event in the historic city to benefit Mother Emanuel Hope Fund
Charleston, S.C. – Talbots, a leading retailer and direct marketer of women’s classic apparel, shoes, and accessories, took a road trip throughout the South for their October “Two for the Road” campaign. Along the way, they discovered and uncovered the beauty of Johns Island, Savannah, and, of course, Charleston. With a 1968 antique turquoise Karmann Ghia, 36 goats as props, three horses to pose with, and 15 trunks of clothing — the three day, three city shoot certainly took more than a village. No one ever went thirsty, though, with at least 200 bottles of water consumed each day, and while in Charleston, shrimp and grits from Amen Fish Bar were always plentiful. The horses dined on apples and grain, and the goats enjoyed their fill of grain and alfalfa. To honor the historic city of Charleston and its King Street store, which has been in Charleston for over 29 years, Talbots will host a charity shopping event on October 1, with a portion of pre-tax sales going to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.
Charleston, known as one of the most hospitable cities in the U.S., lived up to its celebrated title. From June 9 through June 11, the city warmly welcomed Talbots’ 32 person production crew as they set up cameras, outfitted models in the fall collection, and roamed the city snapping shots of the historic sights and cobblestone streets. The charity shopping event at the Talbots Charleston location will be held on Thursday, October 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. Ten percent of pre-tax sales will be donated to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, with a minimum of $5,000 contributed. Attendees will enjoy a 25% shopping discount that evening and will also have the chance to pose with the renowned “Bob, the Carriage Horse” who will be waiting outside the Talbots store, located at 261 King Street.
Five million Talbots customers across the country will receive the “Two for the Road” catalog that is chock full of colorful cashmeres, jewel tone velvet blazers, faux fur vests, and quilted leather riding boots, just to name a few items. The road trip will be brought to life in all nationwide locations of Talbots, with images in all of the store windows and a behind the scenes video on Talbots.com that captures the making of the campaign. Customers may enter the “Two for the Road Sweepstakes” to win a dream trip for two, $1,000 Talbots shopping spree and a $2,000 gift card from Hartmann luggage.
